Case Studies: Global Diversity

Concept of Diversity / Teambuilding (Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation, Illinois)
Roy Dawson served as the first Diversity Leader for the Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation.
We introduced the concept of diversity to the business community. Furthermore, we designed and conducted team building sessions for design and procurement teams representing the Hamilton Sundstrand and Boeing Corporations. This overwhelmingly positive response from the corporate and business community resulted in President Ron McKenna, Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation, stating “This was one of our most successful airplane development programs ever.”

Diversity Sourcing and Recruitment (Motorola)
Connie Robinson was hired to develop Diversity Sourcing and Recruitment for one of the world’s top semiconductor companies.  Within one month of her hire, she was advised to travel abroad to recruit engineers, technologists and scientists.  She responded, “You don’t have to go overseas.  The talent is right here in this country.  You just have to search for the right people in the right places.”  Connie was given three months to attract and hire talent in the U.S.
Connie Robinson traveled to New York and Dallas to research how other high-tech companies were finding minority talent, she began forming relationships with deans from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and their alumni networks, as well as women's groups all over the country.  As a result, her diversity sourcing and recruitment plan not only immediately attracted best-in-class women and minorities, but also significantly changed the attitude of minority hiring expectations and procedures within the company.
